On April 15-17, 2019, the International Student Contest “Interhotelier -2019” was held in the training hotel “Yunost” - the College of Tourism St. Petersburg.
The purpose of the contest is to strengthen international cooperation and improve the quality of vocational education, as well as the development of professional competence and stimulation of students, increasing the prestige of the hotelier profession.
Students studying in hotel specialties from Finland, Italy, France, Kazakhstan and Russia participated in the contest.
There were:
- Istituto istruzione superiore "Giolitti-bellisario" di Mondovì, Italy,
- Luksia, Municipal Education and Training Consortium in Western Uusimaa, Finland,
- Keski-Uudenmaan koulutuskuntayhtymä Tourism Finland,
- Municipal state-owned enterprise “College of Tourism and Hospitality Industry” of the Department of Education of the city of Almaty, Kazakhstan
- L ’Universite G’Angers, France
- College of Tourism, St. Petersburg, Russia.
The team of each educational institution consisted of a student-competitor, a student performing the role of a hotel guest, an expert teacher and a representative of the administration.
The Grand opening of the Contest was held at the site of the "Restaurant service" Department , the guests of the College visited the training laboratories and workshops, introduced to Russian colleagues and students. In her welcoming speech, the Director of the College Svetlana Antonova stressed the importance of experience exchange, development of international cooperation and wished good luck to all participants of the contest.
The students of the College of Tourism prepared a musical welcome for the guests and participants.
The Contest was held in English and consisted of two stages:
"Work at the "Reception" and in the "Back office" and "Work in the “Housekeeping” and "Room service” of the virtual hotel , during which the following tasks were performed:
- Check-In (front office);
- Extraordinary and unexpected situation in the hotel;
- Tourist information (front office);
- Check out (front office);
- Hotel room (made beds, folding towels in the form of various figures; decoration of the festive table with napkins);
- Business correspondence: response to guest complaints (back office);
- The development of the VIP tour (back office)
According to the results of the expert evaluation, the winner of the contest and the winners in the following nominations were determined:
- the WINNER of the Contest was Giorgia SIRI, student of Istituto istruzione superiore "Giolitti-bellisario" di mondovì, Italy.
- the Winner in the nomination "Creativity in the promotion of tourist services" - Natalia Razinskaya, student of the College of tourism of St. Petersburg, Russia.
- the Winner in the nomination "Excellent guest service" is Melissa Rissanen, student of Keski-Uudenmaan koulutuskuntayhtyma Tourism Finland, Finland.
- Jessica Marianne Kataikko, student of Luksia, Municipal Education and Training Comnsortium in Western Uusimaa, Finland, is the Winner in the nomination "Stress Resistance in professional activity".
- the Winner in the nomination "Perfect design of the hotel room" - Maria Bolgarina, student of the Municipal state enterprise "College of tourism and hospitality" of the Department of education of Almaty, Kazakhstan.
the Winners in the nomination "Confidence – a step to success" - a team of French students from L'universite g'angers - Adele BOISMOREAU, Maude FAYE, Thibault FENAIN.
During the business part of the contest program for participants and guests, master classes were held: "Folding towels", "Made beds and bed interior design", "Decoration of the festive table with napkins", which were performed by students of the College of tourism, St. Petersburg, (the winners of the competition of professional skill in the specialty "Hotel service), as well as a round table "Best practices of preparation for solving situational problems at the hotel". According to the results of the contest, foreign and Russian participants took part in the survey and gave a short video interview to the organizers.
At the closing ceremony of the contest Director of the College of Tourism Svetlana Antonova thanked students and representatives of educational institutions for their active participation in the contest and proposals for the contest next year.
The guests expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to participate in such an interesting event, meet new friends and foreign colleagues and showed great interest in participating in such competitions next year
